The offline poker boundary

Our card-lounge experience is deliberately in person, social and easy to understand before you arrive.

01 / Offline

What is offline poker?

Offline poker at Ashen Decor is face-to-face social tabletop play at the venue. People gather around a physical table to play together, share conversation and settle into the rhythm of a real room rather than a screen. It sits within our card-lounge experience: a welcoming, in-person setting where diners, regulars and newcomers can spend social time around the table. The focus is on being present, considerate table etiquette and enjoying a shared activity alongside the hospitality of the venue.

02 / Venue

Is the venue a casino?

No. Ashen Decor is an independent Australian restaurant and offline card lounge, not a casino. Dining, social card play and private gatherings are all part of the venue’s hospitality-led atmosphere. Whether you arrive for a meal, a conversation with friends or a tabletop session, the experience remains local, face-to-face and centred on the room around you.

03 / No online service

Is real money involved, and is online poker available?

Poker sessions at Ashen Decor are not real-money gambling, and online poker is not available through Ashen Decor. There is no online platform to join and no monetary play to arrange through the venue. The distinction is simple and intentionally visible: the lounge is for people meeting in person around a tabletop activity, with the restaurant and social setting as the foundation of the visit.

New to the table?

First session confidence

A first visit should feel like joining a room, not passing a test. Here is what helps a newcomer arrive with ease.

Can beginners join a poker session?

Beginners are welcome. A first session is an in-person social experience, so you can ask the team for guidance on the venue format and table etiquette when you arrive. There is no need to arrive fluent in every term or to treat the table as a performance. If you would like help deciding whether a particular session suits your plans, contact the team beforehand and describe what you are looking for. They can help clarify the next step for a comfortable face-to-face visit.

Tabletop note

Are chips used, and do I need to bring my own cards?

Tabletop accessories, including chips where used, are part of the in-venue social game setup. They are simply game accessories within a shared table activity; they do not indicate monetary value, stakes or exchange. You do not need to arrive with your own cards. If your group has a particular tabletop request, it is sensible to mention it when you contact the team so your visit can begin with the right conversation.

Restaurant first

Does the venue serve food and drinks?

Ashen Decor is a restaurant as well as an offline card lounge, so you can come for modern dining, food and drinks whether or not you are joining a poker session. The room is designed to welcome diners, social groups and card-lounge guests without requiring anyone to be a card player. A meal can be the whole plan, the opening to an unhurried catch-up or part of a broader group visit. Hospitality remains central: the tabletop side of the venue sits alongside the restaurant experience rather than replacing it.

Groups and private occasions

Groups

Can I book a poker table for a group?

Yes, group hosts can enquire about booking a poker table. Tell the team a little about your plans and they can guide the next step for your visit. This is an enquiry-led conversation rather than a promise of a particular table or availability, and it keeps the experience where it belongs: face-to-face, venue-based and social. Sharing your intended date, approximate group size and whether you would also like to dine gives the team a useful starting point.

Private occasion

Can I host a private poker evening?

Private gatherings can be planned at Ashen Decor. If you are imagining an evening that brings together hospitality, dining and an offline social card-lounge atmosphere, begin with a conversation with the team. Include your preferred date, approximate group size and the occasion you have in mind, then let the enquiry shape the appropriate next step. This approach keeps plans personal and practical without assuming inclusions, room arrangements or dates before they have been discussed.

Availability

Booking expectations

Do I need to book in advance?

Booking ahead is encouraged when you have a preferred time, a dining plan, a group visit or an interest in joining an offline poker session. Availability can vary, and advance contact gives the team a clearer sense of the kind of visit you have in mind. It also lets you ask practical questions before you arrive rather than making assumptions about the room, the table or current menu availability. A reservation is the clearest path for dining; a direct enquiry is the most useful path for poker and group plans.
